Montanejos is located in the Alto Mijares shire, in the interior of the province of Castellón and stands 418m above sea level. The surroundings are unrivalled, a mountainous territory with a rich landscape close to the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park.

A visit to this Thermal Village is much more than rural tourism. It is an opportunity to enjoy some free time in an environment associated with health, tradition, nature, sport, culture, gastronomy and leisure.

The town offers a range of attractions for the visitor; the warm springs, network of walking paths, opportunities for sports such as rafting and kayaks, as well as its monuments; the Purification Village Museum, the Alquería Castle and the Moorish Tower, both declared Cultural Interest sites, and the San José bridge, also listed as a Local Heritage site.

Montanejos is also home to a number of high quality hotels, an attractive range of shops and excellent restaurants serving typical local cuisine. A particular highlight is the chance to enjoy a unique health experience with a visit to the justly famous Baths and Spa, which uses the warm mineral enriched waters from the “Fuente de los Baños”.

Cultural tourism

Villa Purificación Museum

Villa Purificación is a recreational house located near the Mijares River as it passes through the town of Montanejos. Its construction plan, as well as most of the architectural ensemble, dates back, according to oral sources, to 1929.

This villa from the last century has been recently restored and adapted for the celebration of fairs, congresses, and events. In addition, the premises of Villa Purificación will also serve to host activities to promote the social life of the elderly in the municipality.
